LOGISTICS: Who I see, scheduling, payment, location
Not at all! While I have a special interest in performing arts physical therapy, my clinical training covers conventional treatments for anyone needing orthopedic, neurologic, or post-surgical therapy. The core principles of physical therapy apply to every body. When working with musicians, I simply tailor those foundational treatments to the unique demands of their craft.

Because every health insurance plan has unique deductibles, copays, and co-insurance structures, the exact cost varies by policy.
• Accepted Plans: Please see my Services page for a complete list of accepted insurances, including Medicare and Medicaid.
• Verify Your Benefits: You can learn about your specific coverage by calling the number on the back of your insurance card or logging into your member portal.
• The Private Practice Advantage: Smaller private practices like mine generally have lower overhead than hospital-based or franchise clinics. Because our insurance billing rates are often lower, your actual out-of-pocket expenses may be less here.
- See my provider fees: Compare my provider fees to the fees of other clinics in this area. Find my fees above at “Good Faith Estimate.”
I usually encourage patients to find an in-network physical therapist first. However, if you still wish to work together, I am happy to accommodate a self-pay plan. Upon request, I will provide a “Good-Faith-Estimate” of your costs along with instructions on how to submit a claim to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Most standard medical insurance plans only cover physical therapy aimed at treating an active injury, illness, or medical condition. Because prevention and maintenance are typically not covered, I offer affordable self-pay wellness packages to be paid in full at the first session:
• $100 for 1 60-min initial consult
• $100 for 1 60-min follow-up session
• $270 for 3 60-min sessions
• $480 for 6 60-min sessions
Yes! Sessions are held at my private studio in Freeville, NY. It is a quiet, clean, and comfortable space designed for a variety of individual therapy treatments.

- 20-30 minutes from Cortland or Homer
No! When you receive care at a hospital-owned clinic, you are often charged a separate “facility fee.” This is not a fee for treatment, it is a fee that covers the hospital’s overhead costs. I do not charge a facility fee. My fees are for treatments and reflect “Usual, Customary, and Reasonable” rates of other physical therapy clinics in this area. Having no facility fee may result in less out-of-pocket expense to you.
ABOUT THE SESSIONS
Yes! While some therapists choose to use “Direct Access” in their practice, I require all patients to have a referral. I accept referrals from a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, dentist, podiatrist, or licensed midwife. If you do not have a paper referral in hand, I can call your provider’s office and have it faxed to me.
You will work one-on-one exclusively with me, a licensed physical therapist, for every aspect of your care. I do not utilize assistants or technicians, ensuring you receive advanced clinical attention throughout your entire session.
I hear variations of this story far too often, and I designed my practice specifically to take a different approach. I practice physical therapy with the individual’s needs in mind. I provide time for thorough evaluations and treatment sessions – initial evaluations last 90 to 120 minutes, and follow-ups are 45 to 75 minutes. You get my undivided attention, hands-on care, and intentional movement analysis while being respectful of your time, but not rushing you out the door.
Often a doctor will give patients a sheet of general exercises as a starting point, but it is not intended to be in place of physical therapy. Sometimes patients have questions about the exercises and need the guidance of an expert physical therapist to instruct them on how to do those exercises safely and effectively. Without a physical therapist, you also miss out on being able to appropriately progress those exercises since the initial basic exercises are often not enough to help you fully recover. Working with a physical therapist is also more than just going over exercises. A PT helps to explain the nature of your injury or condition, provide hands-on treatments as well as exercises, instruct you in new movement patterns so you recover successfully and prevent issues in the future, and offer moral support at a time when patients feel a variety of challenging emotions about their health.
Personal trainers are certified to instruct healthy individuals in general fitness and exercise. They are not qualified to use exercise as a medical treatment, nor are they licensed to perform hands-on therapy. A personal trainer would be great to work with after you have completed your physical therapy and are looking to maintain your health after discharge.
Your first session is an unhurried, comprehensive evaluation where we discuss your medical history, test your movement, and map out your goals. The total number of sessions depends entirely on your condition, your body’s natural healing timeline, and your goals. The amount of time can vary from a few weeks to a few months.
Rehabilitation should never be torture. While some aspects of physical therapy can feel intense or cause mild discomfort, I regularly ask how you are feeling and let your response dictate the session. I work with your body, not against it.
To help manage and reduce pain during your sessions, I utilize a variety of techniques:
• Modalities: Heat or cold therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, and electrical stimulation.
• Manual Therapy: Targeted massage and gentle joint mobilizations.
• Nervous System Calming: Instruction in specific breathing strategies and mindfulness techniques designed to lower pain perception.
Yes, I will be able to access your records that pertain to your physical therapy treatment. While I operate an independent private practice and do not use the MyChart system directly, I can easily coordinate your care. You can either access a copy of your records or imaging reports from your MyChart account, or sign a standard release form allowing me to request them directly on your behalf. Your medical history will always be fully integrated into your treatment.
